The residents of a rural mining town discover that an unfortunate chemical spill has caused hundreds of little spiders to mutate overnight to the size of SUVs. It's then up to mining engineer Chris McCormack and Sheriff Sam Parker to mobilize an eclectic group of townspeople, including the Sheriff's young son, Mike, her daughter, Ashley, and paranoid radio announcer Harlan, into battle against the bloodthirsty eight-legged beasts.

The Worst Film Ever
Simply Perfect
Good concept, poorly executed.
Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Eight Legged freaks is a good film because it knows what it is and does not take itself or the subject way too seriously. Giant spiders invade, humans evade- this is the premise and the execution is deft, if not engaging. This is a classic example of a good B movie, made on a decent B movie budget where the monsters are perfect and the acting not too much further from self deprecation. David Arquette is perfect as the lead and the film also features a young scarlet johannsen. All in all this is a fantastic B movie.

As the title suggests, if you don't get the satire of this movie you simply don't get movies. It's not trying to be Hamlet or Die Hard, it's stupid and it admits it's stupid. The premise is silly (spiders will never be the size of houses e.g.) but it's an enjoyable romp. Plenty of hidden jokes - Grant Wood - American Gothic et al; and yes a predictable outcome. It's not a "Fuck You" movie as Reginald D. Hunter would describe. It's humorous. It's not great but if you wanna waste a couple of hours attached from reality this your movie.

Doug), sheriff Sam Parker (Kari Wuhrer), her kids Mike (Scott Terra) and Ashley (Scarlett Johansson).This is a great example of well made creature feature B-movie. The characters are likable and fun. The action is ridiculous and campy. The story is well structure, but it's the actors that we love to root for. It's a movie where there isn't a higher calling than to have a little gleeful fun battling giant spiders.
