Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
I normally don't write reviews, but after seeing so many negative reviews I just had to. I just finished watching the film and believe many people had a hard time seeing Adrien Brody in a role portrayed as such and rated it negatively. I'll admit initially I thought he was wrong for the role, however, after giving him a chance I enjoyed his acting skills. This was more of a drama than action (although there was action at the end), but I still loved the film. I hope Adrien Brody explores more roles that are out of his comfort zone in the future!! He's been in the game for over 30 years, so c'mon give him a break and allow him to explore different characters while showing him support!
To all the negative reviewers, what exactly were you hoping for that this film didn't deliver? It's possible you're missing the point. This film is fun. Just fun. Not amazing, nothing you haven't seen before, just a good time. Bit like the Fast & Furious films, really, they're fun too. And nothing more. This film even has Jordanna Brewster, and Hayden Christensen, who is an almost identikit version of Paul Walker's character in the F&F films.Things I liked about this film:- 1. Adrien Brody. He's great in everything. He was the reason I watched this, and is now the reason I'm glad I watched it.2. The Heist scene.3. A scene involving a helicopter.4. The dialogue. There are a lot of good one liners in this film, including the one in the title of this review. There's also a good one liner about some toothpaste. So if you're scrolling through Netflix, as I was, looking for something enjoyable to fill up a bit of down time, check this out. And don't take it too seriously.
Most of the reviews on this film are from people that want super fast cars and explosions with super intelligent heist tactics. This is not that film. But it is not a bad film. Not a bad movie at all. I really liked it. If you want a super high budget blockbuster, this is not your movie. If you want to feel the characters and understand their pain, and you can watch slow movies a gain something from them, I recommend this movie. It is definitely a B film, but both of the characters are good actors. You really feel what they are experiencing and what they have been through. I do not regret watching this film at all. But I can enjoy a good film, and I can understand the slower films.
Generic plot line and characters, it starts out fairly watchable but then just descends into an absolutely awful movie, not only is the script generic and badly written, but the movie glorifies violence as usual, and perpetuates the African-American stereotype on screen - in the final scene, all the cops and snipers are white and the two criminals are black (typical), the other two brothers played by Hayden Christensen and Adrian Brody are obviously portrayed as heroes. I'm really surprised any of the actors agreed to do this movie because they're all talented, as I'm sure the director is. Easy paycheck I guess. How do movies like this get made? Complete trash.
