The Cromwell clan lives in the real world, except for their grandmother who lives in Halloweentown, a place where monsters go to escape reality. But now the son of the Cromwells' old enemy Kalabar has a plan to use the grandmother's book to turn Halloweentown into a grey dreary version of the real world while transforming the denizens of the real world into monsters.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Just like the first, this little movie is still just as cute, and remains as a great piece of entertainment for children, even if it is straight-to-TV material. From the acting to the story, all is adequate for the kind of end result those behind the scenes were imagining. There's a lot less "scary images" than the first, and a lot more mystery to intrigue your 11-year-old child. From the slapstick to the one-liners, the comedy will work nicely as well. All in all, I highly recommend a family to watch this in October. It's completely harmless and innocent, and its targeted audience is sure to find entertainment in it.
This movie was very good. It was funny, mysterious, cool, and interesting, it wasn't as good as number 1, but it was still great! Disney should keep it going with good movies like these. I liked all of them(except number 4) because of the originality they put into the characters and the plots. The acting was excellent and the character Sophie was still as cute as can be! Dylan grew, certainly grew. He grew all ugly looking and what not. Even more dorky but that doesn't matter. The writing was excellent and it still had all the excitement from the original film. You will enjoy Kimberly J. Brown's performance because she is a great actress and very pretty. Enjoy all of these movies, i suggest buying them ALL!! 9/10
***SPOILERS*** ***SPOILERS*** I ran into this movie while waiting to go do something else. After about an hour I got caught up in this silly movie and had to see it through. I can get caught up in a made-for-TV movie for some reason and actually enjoy it but hate a full-blown big name movie with a better plot, I guess it's the lack of an expectation or something. The effects were good, pretty much close to what you'd see in a TV drama with lots of effects. Some of the strange looking people of Halloweentown have makeup good enough to appear in a modern scifi show while others look like they're wearing a cheap big rubber mask. All-in-all, the effects are definately good enough for kids. The plot? OK, not spectacular but alright for a child's movie but the cast really carries this movie, you actually LIKE the characters. SPOILER ALERT: Defeating the villian involves time travel, a plot device which is just asking for plot holes. The main purpose of the movie is to defeat the villian by midnight otherwise the Piper family can't get back home...but if you can travel in time the time constrant is meaningless! If you can travel back in time why bother beating the villian after they've done their evil deed? Why not just go back in time and stop them from doing what they did? I guess I'm thinking to hard over this kiddie movie but it's OK.
Stupid, complicated, and utterly ridiculous script...The characters were bland and dull! Debbie Reynolds seemed to have not spirit during the film...She looked bored! The concept of Kalabar having a son, and him being a warlock was just duh! And the time travel thing!!?!?!?! Too sensational, even for Disney and Children of any age. Too talkie...not enough action, but where there were effects, they were very juvenile, and looked bad. Nothing great to say about this one...nor the first..both were perfect examples of bad Diseny movies. No creativity or imagination was put into this film. 2 out of 10
