30 years ago, when members of a religious cult known as Heaven's Veil take their own lives. The truth behind what really happened remains buried deep in the memory of the sole survivor, a five-year-old girl. Now as an adult she returns to the compound with a documentary crew. They soon discover something that is far more terrifying than anything they could have imagined.

Really Surprised!
Great Film overall
While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.
It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
This is one that slipped by me.The reviews seemed mediocre to average on IMDb which generally among horror ratings means it may be decent. I avoided spoilers on this one since there seemed to be a mystery of sorts involved. This is a decent supernatural horror movie. I've seen a couple movies based on Jim Jones type suicide cults, its been done before and as good as some have been, seeing more of the same generally doesn't interest me. This was something completely different though more akin to H.P. Lovecraft's "The Thing on the Doorstep" or the movie "Skeleton Key" which I won't go into detail about but I'd recommend for similar reasons. Needless to say, I enjoyed it. It's not stellar but it's good and well done.
Overall was a very strong recent horror film, especially when compared to recent "failures" such as; Unfriended, Occulus, Ouijia, and Devil's Due (plus plenty more). This movie isn't perfect by any means, but for the standards of horror and being an enjoyable movie, yes it was very good. Some of the events where a little too predictable, but I didn't find those parts too ruining for the overall film. The supernatural aspect was definitely interesting in this one, especially when pairing it with a suicide cult (oh and no it's not ripping off the suicide cult from V/H/S 2 BTW, it's very different from that one so have no fear in thinking that this film might be ripping off other horror films. Trust me, it's not.).Is it scary? Kind of. Probably not nightmare inducing for me, but I think the scariest aspect is revolving around the cult and how the followers blindly follow the leader much like cults in real life. Is it re watchable? I would say so in all honesty. Is it amazing? Ehhh, not amazing but very good and deserves the rating of 7/10 from me. Does it end well? Yes and no. Some of the actions of a certain character irked me towards the end and I found myself very disappointing in this character. However I will say the ending wasn't bad really by any means, especially when playing off a certain part of the beginning of the film. Also another good part of the closing of this film is the very last line said. For some reason the very subtle, nonchalant line at the very end really got to me, and I am sure once you watch it you'll understand why.
I saw it before means it is a dumb movie? I rather see horror movie than anything else. Dummies. All these people that I saw it before and now it sucks crap is so stupid. I rather see this movie than some stupid found footage any day or even the stupid build up that fail more than this movie ever did.For the review that said we have a problem for liking this movie if we are a fan of horror is stupid. The ones that don't like real horror movies like this are the ones that like the not scary horror movies like PG-13 and get scared from something that isn't scary at all. This is more entertaining than and build up horror movie or PG-13 so called horror movie. Jump scares are just that. Nothing scary about that and music or noise is just that. Not scary. This had some of that but you leave the stuff out like in real horror movies and make PG- 13, then it is not really a horror movie. They are not scary. No matter what any true horror fan, if you are would not like PG-13 or PG claimed to be horror movies. Really, tired of the good horror movies put down while the trashy PG-13 or PG ones are being made and released.I been a horror movie watcher since I was 11 years old and for the last decade and half, there has been way more PG-13 releases ever and they all suck. This movie is awesome but the end kind of sucked but this is better than any PG-13 horror movie release ever.
Don't listen to the naysayers who think the only decent movie is a top-notch blockbuster world-wide smash hit.Don't listen to those who say this isn't a "real horror/suspense movie." Some think real horror must be gobs of guts and blood. Some think it must keep you constantly on the edge of your seat while tearing up the armrests with your fingernails.Nay nay I say. There is room for everything as long as it is done entertainingly. This movie has a gripping story contrary to most horror flicks which simply flash panties while young girls run from monsters with stories that someone was abandoned, unloved, or otherwise wounded by society and now spends their deformed adulthood splicing up people (or it's a monster from an urban legend). Same stories, different colors of underwear.Well, let me remove the nails from this cross and help you transcend to a new adventure beyond the veil of horror.Lean back with your popcorn and soda, enjoy the story and mild supernatural mystery. You won't find fingernail tears in your armrests but you will enjoy watching the story unfold even if you don't get to see those gratuity flashes.Watch it with friends and you may even find yourself discussing the possibilities of the spiritual theories posited within. Just for fun, of course.
