Best movie of this year hands down!
Best movie ever!
Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
Yes, the story is predictable. But it's a drama. Acting is good, choreography is GREAT and it deserves much more than 5 stars. It's prob at least a 7/10 seeing as some movies WAY less entertaining get 2 more stars. I don't even normally like movies that target the audience this one does, but it is well done.
So what if this is clichéd, so what if it's a combination of 2 different movies (which I disagree). This is one of the first black film I can sit back and watch that does not have any cursing, sex, a lot of violence etc. Is it so hard for black people to accept being seen in a different light? Are we as black people not tired of the violent, unintelligent and downright stupid characters we are cast to play in movies? This movie is damn good (if I may so) and I will say that because I can safely sit down with my kids and watch it without have to skip over anything. All you haters out there, let us see you do something better without the expletives, sex scenes etc.. I love the quote at the end, that was a nice touch.
I give it a 2 because there have been worse movies. But, for the most part it was really bad. That being said, if you are a young teen who is into movies like "You Got Served" (which definitely rates a 1 as one of the worst ever), you will like this movie. Granted, the film is not full of really good actors either. Sure, Chris Brown is in it, but, that may be it's only highlight. Even he fails to perform up to snuff, but, he did have a few good moments. There were a few steps that were good, but, there wasn't anything really unique. In fact, the front step kick in Karate Kid was a lot more unique than anything I saw in here for it's time. Roller dancing films, break dancing films and now this film. That's what type of film it was.
I'm often baffled at the ratings that some of the movies end up with out here. This movie is far better than a 3+. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the very beginning, but what I did see was entertaining and well-acted, just what one would usually expect from a film of any sort. Sure, the story's been told, as most stories have, but they all have something a little unique to offer. The dance sequences weren't necessarily awe-inspiring, but they also weren't drawn out so long as to bore you. All in all, I enjoyed this picture. My perspective comes from that of a middle-aged white guy, so it might be quite different from yours.
