best movie i've ever seen.
When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
I am from Texas and am more than familiar with the actual incident in which a UT student on Spring Break was abducted by a an insane narco-cult that ended up sacrificing him. I remember the news stories. So, this film instantly perked my interest. However, I was also more than aware that this was not exactly a big budget film and gave the appearance of being yet another torture horror movie. However, I was blown away by the final product. This film has a slick an exceptional look, the scenes are so well shot, cinematography and choreography, great. Secondly, the acting is exceptional. Not super famous actors here, but they are putting there all into these performances. You really start to feel like you are in this dark Mexican underworld where crazies are looking to perform human sacrifices. In the end, what you have is a very intense, well acted movie that hearkens back to the classic midnight movies of the 1970s. The violence level is intense in many scenes, but hey, the actual story this was based on was grotesquely violent, so.. Give this film a shot, if you can get past the intensity, you will be impressed.
First of all i like to elucidate whom the ratings go for , 1 for Jake Muxworthy , he really worth the star since i don't see that Brian Presley did better performance , and 1 for Martha Higareda merely because she's gorgeous , and the remaining three for the costume designer ,and the makeup department for the exquisite work they made to make the Spanish actors "henchmen" to look scary . Initially , i was expecting to see a better suspenseful horror movie and that because of the frightening begging ,but soon later i've discovered that it was disappointing , but to be honest! my speculations even before i watch the movie were like the views i got after i've done watching it , for one reason , which is the director 'Zen Berman' is inexperienced ,and a beginner filmmaker , The only movie he directed that worth mentioning is 'Briar Patch' he won prize for it in Houston international film festival probably he achieved it by virtue of good screen writing by 'Deborah Pryor' i mean it was easy directing it as i reckon , but anyways this movie Highlighted and focused on the true story of the drug dealer "Constanzo" and his gory rituals that the scenarist ascribed it to the Palo religion , therefor, i'd like to demonstrate something which is that palo has many denominations and non of it has such a brutal rituals , i mean they do rituals include sacrificing but not with human blood, he invented it, i guess constanzo learned it from his Voodoo teacher in his trip to Haiti , finally i'd like to inform that names in the movie weren't like the names of the real people in the true event , and the way constanzo got killed in the film , wasn't like the real reason of his death in real life , because in reality , he committed a suicide . Thank you for reading this :) .
The sepia toned cinematography in this movie captures expertly the surrealistic, bizarre, and disturbing landscape familiar to anyone who has found themselves running for their lives across it as a hapless tourista. Unflinching truth and unrelenting power is a cinema triumph. Zev Berman directed this essential and enlightening drama from a brilliant script co-penned with Eric Poppen. What they have accomplished with this important film is to expose the unholy dangers Americans face south of the border. Pulling no punches and depicting the horrors in Mexico in graphic detail, this is nothing less than essential viewing for tourists, especially the young who believe they are immortal. This is not a horror film but more a docudrama based in reality and truth. For anyone who has lost a friend or loved one to the violent, carnal, and vicious devil worshipers, drug cartels, and corrupt police of our neighbor down south, the experience of this film will be quite moving indeed. An outstanding cast give superb performances and demonstrate the overwhelming evil of those who prey on vulnerable, innocent victims with impunity. A vital film that serves to awaken a complacent nation to the terrible risks inherent in any senseless southern journey.
Despite the headlines and many stories like the one this film is based on, some people insist on going to Mexico. Yet Narco terrorists and satanic cults are well know there and a part of everyday life. The police and military are helpless in the face of their unholy power. This motion picture could serve as a documentary regarding satanism south of the border and is horrific to watch. It is disturbing to watch, not only because of the graphic imagery but shockingly there is much truth in what is shown. Frightening, repulsive, violent, but most of all realistic in its depiction of evil Mexican cults preying on young Americans, this is a film that should required viewing by anyone with poor enough judgment that they would actually take the extreme risk of traveling across our southern border without a rifle platoon of U.S. Marines as companions on the trip.
