Desperately, John convinces the DEA and the opportunistic DA Joanne Keeghan to let him go undercover to help make arrests big enough to free his son in return. With the unwitting help of an ex-con employee, John enters the narcotics underworld where every move could be his last in an operation that will demand all his resources, wits and courage to survive.

In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
Jason (Rafi Gavron) has friends that do drugs. One of them sends him drugs through the mail, which he was half-heatedly opposed. Jason gets busted as did his friend who turned witness against Jason, claiming he was going to help sell the drugs. Jason is faced with a mandatory 10 year sentence, along with all the other innocent people in prison unless he snitches on everyone he ever smoked a doobie with.Jason refuses and would rather get beat up in prison. Dad (Dwayne Johnson) however has a different idea. He cuts an unorthodox deal the federal prosecutor (Susan Sarandon) that would give Jason a get of of jail free card, if he delivered them a felony conviction. Dad employs the help of an ex-con (Jon Bernthal)in his construction firm to make the contact. As Dwayne gets deeper and further up the food chain, the federal prosecutor wants more.Clearly Dwayne is in way over his head. We really don't feel the peril as much as we should because it is Dwayne Johnson who we have seen out run, out gun, and beat up armies of evil men.The acting was decent, even from the support cast. The plot and dialouge needed some help. The film attempts to show that mandatory sentencing laws are unfair and judges should have more leeway in sentencing, but it doesn't inundate you with the theme so as to interfere with the film.A good semi-family film for Rock fans. One you might want your teen to see. This is another story based on true events. This one is more believable as it doesn't include aliens, ghosts or zombies. The explode on contact cars are still hard to swallow.Parental Guide: No sex or nudity. No spoken F-bombs. A brief F-bomb in graffiti background most people will miss.
Snitch is set in a post-divorce era. A son (Jason), somewhat rebellious, is suckered by a mate who, gaining brownie points for the DEA, tricks him into receiving illegal drugs. Jason in turn is offered a deal: sucker others in the drug's network and you'll get time off jail. He is basically an innocent, doesn't know anyone to be in the network, and won't sucker in the innocent as he was. His father (John), a successful businessman, offers to help the DEA for his son's early release. This requires contacting the local drug's network, and this (in eventum) requires bribing an employee and reformed criminal (Daniel). Daniel likes his boss and advises him to stay away from drugs, but Daniel finally yields to the temptation of serious money if he helps John make a contact: Daniel's family is very hard up and John seems serious.Daniel knows a nasty (Malik), who gives John a drug's job. The DEA could have gotten a good arrest out of that, and honoured their deal to release Jason early, but decide that John's success as a courier can help them nail a bigger fish in a strong drug's cartel (El Topo). It soon turns out that John's second trip will be a one-way trip, leading to his murder in Mexico: the DEA is morally divided. John, put in the picture, redraws the plan to give himself a fighting chance of survival. At this stage Daniel understands John's family motivations, and himself a family man, helps John's plans. Without going further, suffice to say it's a nail biter, and (to my ears) F-word free. A gritty film, showing real courage and concern for others, as well as dirty tricks within the DEA, where motivations are mixed. Was left hoping the cartel's snitch would get her comeuppance. Would have loved Cordell Walker to have shown up and spared me my fingernails, too.
Story: Following one man as he risks everything to save his son, we see it isn't just his life, his son's life it also will risk his new wife's life and daughter as he goes undercover. We get to see how a rookie drug mule ends up tricking some of the biggest names in drug dealing. It fails to offer anything new to the genre it does offer an insight to a based on true events. Everything turns out to be very simple to watch that plays out smart without challenging the audience too much. People seem more interested in his voice and discussing if the character playing his son was his real son, and how that came to be.Take a look at takepart.com/snitch - for me as a non US citizen I sort of got the feeling that the law is a bit unjust to some people. I am not saying there should not be taken action on those doing a criminal offense. But like the son in this movie, who received an package with a tracking device and could get 10 years for that. Is this how it really works, and how is that preventive and also how is that sentence justified?Just saying.Movie wasn't a top notch one, if we are to discuss that fact, but it was better than Peter Pan (that made me so sleepy).OK acting here and there, so I don't feel like I wasted my time seeing it.
