One of my all time favorites.
Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.
While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
I Have to admit I was suckered in by the trailer, it was exciting and action packed. I thought they were doing a Bad Boys style movie, boy was I wrong. This was like a long TV episode of an American crime show like NCIS, Hawaii Five-O, or CSI but not as intriguing or engaging. All the action is in the trailer. There's about 3 action scenes and all 3 are not that new or good, they're the type you'd see in standard TV shows. There's some poor computer game animation mixed into one action sequence(cus Kevin Hart's character loves to play computer games) which totally ruins the rhythm of that action sequence and ruins the enjoyment of it. The end action sequence looks like they couldn't be bothered, something you would have gotten in a straight-to- video 80s/90s action flick. It wasn't a good comedy either, there was about 3-4 little chuckles throughout from some of the audience including myself for some of the one liners. I read before i went in to watch this sequel that it was more of an actioner than comedy but for me it didn't deliver in either.I wasn't expecting anything new or groundbreaking storywise but at least give me something to keep me interested but its a film that came across as if they took scenes from loads of other similar films and just copy/pasted them together. It all just looked WAY too familiar and not in a good way.So overall i don't see any reason to recommend paying hard earned money to watch it at the cinema. I'd recommend waiting until it comes on TV,as it is like a TV episode anyway. Then at least you can switch over to another channel if your not feeling it.If you do want to go to the cinema to watch a comedy then i would definitely recommend DADDY'S HOME if it's still out, very very funny, you will defo leave with a smile on your face. But if your really in the mood for an action-comedy then i would recommend SPY,which was out in 2015 and is out on DVD now. Great action, very funny and very entertaining. Everyone i know that's seen it loved it.
Ice Cube and Kevin Hart team up again in another annoying cop and detective film that has action and some curves. You can never be quite sure what will come out of Kevin Harts mouth but you can be sure that it will create mayhem. In this movie he even gets hitched to Ice Cubes sister which is his bonus for the second round of this one.The plot centers around the upcoming wedding, and a mission to bring down a bad guy whose peddling guns, and drugs, and whatever he can peddle illegally. There is a calm little guy who looks like an Aian computer nerd who is trying to help catch the bad guy. I am not sure how well the formula for this movie will keep working, but I see Ride Along 3 is already being made.Cube and Hart actually have a formula as a comedy team that is like many past teams in comedy movies. It works pretty well as Ice Cubes straight man is a very good foil for Kevin Harts antics. Like other comedy duos, their films are not perfect, but if you enjoy the folks working together they always give the audience entertainment. That is the bottom line here.
Off the top of my head as I'm sure there are so many more: Ride Along 2, Transporter 2, Mission: Impossible III, Casino Royale, RENO 911!: Miami, Bad Boys 1-II and, of course, Miami Vice: The Mann Movie. These are action films that took place fully or partially in Miami. When I saw Ride Along 2 went to Miami, I was like: Here we go again and again.BUT I enjoyed this 'Ride.' I laughed a ton, thought the action was adequate and even the most blatant clichés could be overlooked. If you liked the first one, I think you'll definitely dig this follow-up.Basically, the most obvious criminal in movie politics is in Miami and our mismatched soon-to-be "brothers-in-law," head there to take him down. Really, it's 100% what you'd expect from the original. This is definitely one of the rare occasions that a comedy (action- comedy or not) exceeds expectations during the sequel. Rush Hour 2 is another one that comes to mind. They gave you a new background, but retained the magic of the original in both part 2s.Recommended for both Ride Along 1 fans and even newcomers alike. No need to see the original anyways even though that's definitely recommended as well.***Final thoughts: It's always worrisome when they release a movie, especially a sequel to a popular movie, in January. This an exception to that rule.
When I liked the first movie, I wanted a sequel and now they made one for it that I liked even better than the original. I don't think Ice Cube's solo performance could have pulled the crowd in, the impact was because of the Kevin Hart's presence, he really rocks. He's doing some awesome movies lately, and he's the best sidekick and comedian available for now in Hollywood, just like Simon Pegg in England.Once again a movie is totally underrated, especially by foul mouthed film critics. Trust me, this film is much better than what they say. If you liked the first, you'll surely going to enjoy it as well. I'm confident the rating will recover in the later days once the regular people rent it. A simple follow-up story, but it was the comedy that lifted this film. The two cops soon-to-be bros-in-law goes to Miami on a job, but the case they're working connects with others, so they join the local force to take down the gang behind it.Who needs a spoof film for it, the movie mocks its own characters by saying 'a low budget Jackie Chan' for Keng Jeong. Apart from the comedies, the action sequences were very impressive. Olivia Munn was a great addition and I believe she would hangouts here for the next. Yep, I want the third movie and I'm hoping it to be even more stylish kick-ass action-comedy. So just retain the director and writers, after the first two films, I got high hope on them.7/10
