Did you people see the same film I saw?
Absolutely brilliant
This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
What an awful film. It was crude and rude and totally unfunny. What on earth possessed Rafe Spall and Simon Baker to do this film. The story was puerile, Minnie Driver's character was obnoxious to her husband for no particular reason. The family scenes with the digital photos and Charades were embarrassing and the strange dialogue that Rafe was mumbling in the underwear shop was plain ridiculous, what is more the scene where he goes in the cubicle with the friend and starts whittering about venereal diseases when he is attracted to her was the most stupid rubbish I have heard. The writer should be ashamed of himself. Anyone signing up to this film must have been desperate for money.
The Stephen Merchant parts are funny but the rest are atrocious. It is a fourth rate copy of 4 Weddings the acting is awful with no comic timing. The characters are paper think uncharming smug rich kids. Every cliché is overused together with hackneyed awkward sentences and engineered Anglo-American comrardary and unsubtle romantic sound tracking. The jokes are old and recycled from old episodes if Robin's Nest. Who watches these banal chick flicks? This is a totally forgettable date movie. As always with Romcoms they try to be romantic and funny and fail at both. Olivia Coleman was completely wasted in this using lines recycled from Agony and It takes a Worried Man. No originality just a complete fail. The audience must have been suckered inti the cinema by the Stephen Merchant bits that you see in the trailer.
I really didn't enjoy this.I couldn't even get through the first 30 minutes without getting so bored I'd rather clean my damn house. (and oh, how I hate cleaning my house) I almost fell asleep even though it was 3 in the afternoon when I was watching.I don't really mind if a movie is not that funny, as long as there's a good story in it. Something fun, or heartwarming would have been nice. Or at least something happening, not just some scenes from the daily grind. But the first 30 minutes didn't give me any reason to believe there was even a story at all, let alone it being a good one.I'm not saying, don't go watch this. I'm just saying if you don't like being bored to death, it would be a waste of your time! ;)
The writer of this movie just isn't funny enough to have written an entire comedy. There are a couple of cute lines here and there but they are obscured by too much clichéd and silly dialog.A couple gets married but realizes they are not meant for one another when he connects with an old flame and she with a new client. The actors are talented comedy actors but they look ill at ease given the strained situations. Anna Faris looks so awkward here and she is usually such a good comedienne. The slim and beautiful Rose Byrne tries hard with an English accent and all. And she is still so charming it kind of rescues some parts of the movie. Simon Baker is wrong as an American business man. And he looks a bit old for the role. There are some terrible scenes, including the dove, the station finale etc.Maybe it is a well intentioned warning against getting married before knowing your spouse well enough and not having enough in common. But it is a painful way to get the message across.
