Although theorised, no one is really ready when a mountain pass above the scenic and narrow Geiranger fjord in Norway collapses and creates a tsunami over 300 feet high. A geologist is one of those caught in the middle of it.

Highly Overrated But Still Good
This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
The acting in this movie is really good.
It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
It's a good movie, above the average acting, incredible photography and not so bad special effects. The tension the movie builds really gets you, it's easy to start to care about the characters. It's worth the watch, for me a great surprise, but basically, it's The Impossible on Fjords.
An amazingly well done movie for a not so big budget. You will find yourself questioning ethics, family vs humanity, and fear vs hope. There are some small nuances to cliché scenes that make a difference in the overall experience. These nuances are why I love foreign movies. What I mean is that some events are left open just like in life not everything gets to a resolution.
This movie changed the way I judge movies before I even start to watch. Usually I look at the credits (are they known people?). And One day I said "Let me see..." And wow, there's a much more outside of Hollywood than what we think. And now you can see they will be working with better-paid projects in the future. Roar Uthaug has had directed some unknown titles in the past, but wow, what a great job he did on this movie. All the people that worked on this film, from the direction, the acting, the cinematography, the special and visual effects, the film editing, to the production design, the art direction, the music, and all the production, wow! amazing! The special and visual effects are knock-shocking.The screenplay is predictable but still decent. You can stay intrigued all the movie up to the end.I cannot put negative criticism on this movie. This is a film that put Noriega on the map.
I couldn't find an English dubbed version, so i decided to watch the one with subtitles. This, it turns out was a good thing! On to the movie - The movie itself is pretty straightforward. A family of four are planning to relocate. However, the geologist father's paranoia (as his staff obviously seems to think) delays their departure. As the story progresses this turns out to be a somewhat fortunate turn of events. The story line, although predictable, is not bad, and the characters manage to make you feel for them even in a foreign language (for me) which is pretty awesome. The effects and the score also add to the movie and it turns out to be a well worth the time spent. Not the least because the story is rooted in absolute reality. The actuality of the events happening one day makes it genuinely scary. I only wish they had spent more time on the mountain's effects. All in all, a fun film for ecological disaster movie watchers.
