good film but with many flaws
Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
I dont want to say too much to put out any spoilers - but this movie is such a statement about society and how we develop relationships, it's such a great film and I cant wait to watch it for a second time.
The film had some glimpses of oscar material but overall it was two hours of my life wasted on a movie that was kind of horrible. The actors were good but the storyline never kicked in. It was an endless wait for nothing and I would'nt recommend anyone to see it.
This is a very original storyline with very offbeat humour. It challenges us to consider our own hangups about love and social expectations. But after challenging our conceptions, it doesn't deliver us to any new epiphany or new insight. No conclusions are drawn from the experience of the story and we are left with a worldview undermined, but without an alternative proferred to us. No better way of doing things is discovered. However, I'm still rating this highly for it's sheer ooriginality and daring. There is an honesty to the rigidity of the characters thoughts which i appreciated also
Everyone interprets this film in their own way. The film itself is not particularly funny or entertaining, but it still kept me engaged and got me thinking. My interpretation is that human beings should just let one another be. As shown in the film, whether in the 'couples world' or in the 'singles world', there is no utopia. One has to have a sense of conscience, be non-judgmental and just let one another be. Be kind to less fortunate beings and animals too.Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz and the rest of the cast was wonderful. I would have rated this film higher if not for the disappointing ending.
