I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

Just like the Phantom Menace, this movie is severely underrated. Just like the Phantom Menace, I do not understand why this movie receives a ton of hate. It does not deserve to be compared to films like Batman and Robin and Jaws: The Revenge. This movie is a great addition to the Star Wars franchise.Storytelling: This movie had a very solid story. The movie's story was about Anakin stepping closer and closer to the dark side, and the beginning of the Clone Wars.It has been 10 years since Anakin became Obi-Wan's apprentice. Anakin is now under a lot of stress. The Jedi do not treat him very well. The Jedi would not allow Anakin to visit his dying mother. This put Anakin in a position to fall in love with Padme, even though attachment is forbidden for a Jedi. When the two arrived on Naboo to hide from Padme's assassin, Anakin began to fall in love with Padme. Padme tells Anakin they are not able to fall in love, and that if they kept it a secret, it would destroy them. That night, Anakin had a nightmare of his mother's death. This forced Anakin and Padme to go to Tatooine. Anakin found his mother and she died his arm. This is when Anakin truly tasted the dark side and slaughtered the sand people. Padme comforted Anakin after the incident. When Anakin and Padme found out Obi-Wan has been captured on Geonosis, they decide to go after him. After they get captured, Padme confessed her love to Anakin. After the Battle of Geonosis, Padme and Anakin get married. They will live a lie keep their love in secret. This is the beginning of the downfall of Anakin Skywalker and the beginning of the creation of Darth Vader. In this movie, Palpatine secretly was involved in the creation of the clones and the beginning of the Clone War. Palpatine will use the war to become Emperor, wipe out the Jedi Order. Characters: Most of the characters were well-written, except for a few. Anakin: Well-written character who is selfless, lustful, and in pain. This movie perfectly sets up his rise to Darth Vader.Padme: Well-written character who cared about diplomacy and truly loved Anakin, despite his flaws. Obi-Wan: Out of character. His patient and fatherly side was not shown in this movie. It is said he is like a father to Anakin but that is not shown in this movie. Yoda: Well-written character who truly cares about Anakin and the fate of the galaxy. Mace Windu: A bit bland. Does not do enough in this movie.Count Dooku: A good villain who sees the corruption with the Jedi Order and with the Republic. A major improvement over Darth Maul.Palpatine: An excellent villain who is smart, power-hungry and secretly pretends to be a good guy.Jar Jar Binks: I don't understand why he's mayor but it's nice to see him back. I wish he had more scenes.Emotion:There was a lot of emotion in this movie. Here are the scenes:"Or be with the people I love"Padme comforting Anakin after his nightmareAnakin hugging Padme before his searches for his motherShmi's last words and her deathPadme comforting Anakin after his mother's deathShmi's funeral scenePadme confesses her love for AnakinAnakin and Padme's marriageActing/DialogueAlmost all of the acting was great. The acting was a little wooden/cringy at times, but that is a very minor flaw in the movie.Pacing:This movie was very well-paced. This movie never got boring. The movie was very easy to keep up with. The movie flowed very nicely.Visuals and Sound Effects:Some of the visuals were well-done. Some scenes overused CGI and it looked dated. It, however, doesn't look terrible, it just doesn't look great. In terms of sound effects, they were well-done.In Conclusion:Like it's predecessor, this movie is a imperfect but great entry into the Star Wars franchise. Though some of the romance dialogue was cringy and a few characters weren't that great, everything else, including the storytelling, emotion, and the rest of the characters worked perfectly. As a Star Wars fan, I really like this movie. I give it the same grade as the Phantom Menace, but I do like this movie slightly more though. Score: 75%

I just finished re-watching all six Lucas-era Star Wars films in episode order (I-VI) with the commentary and want to give my reviews of each film. Let me preface by saying that I am a lifelong Star Wars fan who grew up with the original trilogy and literally have no memory of a time in my life before SW. As such, I am not going to be totally unbiased in my reviews, but I will try to be somewhat objective.Attack of the Clones begins 10 years after The Phantom Menace. After an assassination attempt on (now) Senator Amidala's life, Obi-Wan and Anakin are called in to protect her--Anakin as her bodyguard and Obi-Wan as a detective following an intergalactic trail of evidence to discover who is trying to kill her and why. The investigation leads him to discover many dark secrets about the Jedi, the Republic, and who has been pulling the strings this whole time. As a result, a war erupts between the Republic and the Separatists under the control of the mysterious sith lord, Darth Sidious. Begun, the Clone Wars have.Let me start by saying that this is definitely my least favorite of the 6 Lucas films. The love story is tedious, there's no exceptional actors to make up for the absence of Liam Neeson, the cgi is too much, and Anakin is so unlikable that you almost stop caring that he will eventually turn evil. George Lucas loves to describe Anakin's story as a tragedy in the vein of a classic Greek play, but a tragedy where the tragic figure is not sympathetic is not a very good tragedy at all.All that said, I still enjoy this film a bit. The politics are probably the saving grace of this one.THE GOOD-Christopher Lee is the one great actor but unfortunately he doesn't even appear until halfway through the movie. Still, every scene he is in is a treat.-The way Palpatine has manipulated everything is absolutely masterful to see. It can be lost in the mess of cgi and Anakin's temper tantrums, but in this movie it's established that Palpatine (possibly through Dooku) created a clone army with the intention of starting a civil war eventually and giving that clone army to the Republic as massive Trojan Horse. He then orchestrated the assassination attempts on Padme, in order to lead the Jedi to Kamino where they would discover the clone army created for them (and also made sure Padme and Anakin were placed together so he would develop a forbidden attachment to her--the fatal weakness he would eventually exploit to turn Anakin to the Dark Side). Meanwhile, he continued to play the Separatists from both sides to artificially create this conflict to keep him in office and allow him to accumulate more executive power. Finally, the whole time he was grooming Anakin and pushing him to explore his dark side so that he could eventually make him his new apprentice. All around it's a brilliant work of art to see in action, and really he deserved to become emperor because he was way smarter and more competent than the Jedi or anyone else in these movies.-Love seeing the Slave I. It might be my favorite ship in the SW universe.THE BAD-Anakin is a petulant, unlikable, self-centered brat. I almost couldn't wait for him to fall into the lava in the next movie because then I wouldn't have to look at his stupid whiny face anymore. However, if you think about it, Vader was occasionally petulant in the original trilogy too, so I guess it's in character (strangling people for disagreeing with him, for example).-The cgi is just...way too much. The alien that Obi-Wan meets in the diner in particular just looks so fake. And it really makes me angry (probably irrationally so) when they tell us repeatedly in the commentary that not a single clone trooper suit was built and they were all 100% cgi. The whole movie feels inconsequential and fake because of how overboard they went on the cgi.-The love story is hard to watch. It's not believable that a brilliant, mature, and successful woman with a good head on her shoulders would fall in love with a petulant, emotionally unstable child. And Anakin is straight up creepy towards her in the scenes on Coruscant and Naboo. The scenes on Tatooine where he finally quits creeping on her and they talk like friends are actually very good and with more interactions like that, the love story might have been more believable. -The dialogue, as always.THE UGLY-The fact that the Jedi don't seem concerned about the origins of the clone army and just decide to use it without asking any questions is pretty massive incompetence on their part. In fact, throughout these prequels their complacency and incompetence makes me think they deserved to get wiped out. Yoda is the worst offender here, as he is supposed to be extremely wise and powerful and yet throughout the movies he repeatedly makes critical mistakes that lead to the fall of the Jedi (allowing Anakin to be trained, using and trusting the clone army, not figuring out who was pulling the strings, etc.).-I know the Expanded Universe is not canon and now isn't even part of SW anymore thanks to Disney, but the EU background for Boba Fett was that he was from a race of elite warriors called the Mandalorians and he has fought against the Jedi in the Clone Wars. This movie establishing him as a stormtrooper clone and a kid instead is just...infinitely less interesting.

Watching the story/chapters unfold one by one through George Lucas's eyes is exciting. This film is much better than the titular title lets one. Hayden Christensen is one of the down falls as a teenage Skywalker/Jedi in training, the subtle teen angst or puppy love between Anakin /Queen is dismal. The story of why/where the clones actually come to light is enticing and gives the audience a peek into the dark side of the fallen. Now, Christopher Lee, what can one say about such an iconic actor. His performance of Count Dooku is villainous and maniacal. strength in his forthcoming, laid back evil methods is what drives this arc. The fight scenes are spectacular. The last 25 minutes of the film is well worth the 2.5 hrs. Certainly reinvigorates the love of the franchise. I give this a well deserved solid 7 out of 10

While the first film was a disappointment at least it was a little fun. This film tries to be more serious in tone, but comes across as boring and dull. The first and last acts are a lot of fun and action packed, but the middle drags and feels longer than it actually is. McGregor, Jackson, Oz, Morrison, and Lee are the best performers in the film, the effects are good but feel more dated even compared to the first film. Christiansen is really disappointing as Anakin, sometimes he feels like he's doing a good job the rest, well let's just say he doesn't like sand. Portman feels like she's phoning it in but is still being professional about it. All in all the film is a lot like Episode I, it has its moments but overall underwhelming.
