A dark comedy about an eclectic group of strangers invited to a downtown bar by a mutual ex-lover, Nikki Franklyn, a maddeningly sexy, unpredictable and possibly insane young woman who's recently gotten out of prison for murdering her last ex-boyfriend. The party really gets started when Nikki herself arrives, hauling her latest lover and fiancee, the morally challenged lawyer who'd been handling her case. She's mysterious about her intentions and her current and former lovers soon realize they are all caught in one of her brilliant, mischievous mind-games with possible deadly consequences. By the night's end, revenge will be had, new romance will bloom, and Nikki will have delivered on her reputation as the Sexy Evil Genius.

This movie is the proof that the world is becoming a sick and dumb place
Disapointment
Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
This is a good, well-plotted, well-acted ensemble piece. It gives the impression of having a decent writer on board – which is not that common an impression, these days. I can easily imagine it adapted as a stage play and do remember checking to see if it had originated from the stage. I was struck again by how good an actor Michelle Trachtenberg is – for years I've been seeing her give little bits of evidence that, were she only given roles to get her teeth into, she could build a really high reputation. Having said that, I really should not pick out any one of the five main actors. Each created really believable, 'screen-filling' characters and there was really good balance between them. There are subtle undercurrents: for example, watch the sub-surface rivalry and point-scoring between Zac (Seth Green) and Marvin (Harold Perrineau) – just facial expressions and body language, but made me chuckle repeatedly.Nikki (Katee Sackhoff) assembles four other characters, who turn out to be present or past lovers, for a get-together in a bar. The plot is the working out of what this charismatic and magnetic, scheming, and possibly dangerously insane character is up to, and how it fits into their shared histories - and it is enthralling. I suppose it's best called a comedy, but I could also call it a mystery‑thriller. I found fascinating the gradual working out of the individual back stories and how they feed into the equally gradual build-up to what she's been planning. The only thing that could improve it would be a bit more in the way of snappy dialogue – some memorable one-liners, perhaps – if only for the title character. This film sort of sneaked up on me. I watched it and quite liked it, felt I'd like to watch it again, so I did, and gradually, over repeating watchings, it has become one of my couple of dozen all-time favourites. I never get tired of it. It's sad that it seems to be so little known.
This movie is not a comedy. I agree with the thriller and drama classification. I didn't consider this a bad movie. I found the actors did a fine job of it, but the predictable plot it let down greatly. I also found this movie classified as science fiction in some other places. I was disappointed with their attempts of twists of the plot and found it bizarre how the characters interacted with each other. They seemed to almost become best friends only after knowing each other for minutes. This movie is neither science fiction nor is it a comedy. If your looking for a calm, predictable thriller to watch, this is the movie for you.
And my title pretty much sums up this film, Sexy? Evil? Genius??? Pahhh In fact the title of this review can rightly be classed as a spoiler since that pretty much covers this film in a nutshell...The script pretends to be intelligent but does not deliver on the dialogue which is as stupid as the whole premise of this pointless waste of 90 minutes...So let me save you 88 of those 90 minutes by recounting the story for you in 2 minutes...**********Two moronic ex's of psycho bimbo meet in bar (Boring Moron and Lesbian Moron) where psycho bimbo has arranged to meet some of her ex's, they babble on about how nuts psycho bimbo is till Moronic Ex No 3 turns up (Jazz Moron), they all swap boring stories about psycho bimbo and the latest news that psycho bimbo murdered somebody.Psycho bimbo turns up with lawyer moron and then goes psychotically deranged claiming revenge on one or more of her guest morons.Boring Moron is in the clear, Lesbian moron is also in the clear but Jazz moron gets drugged but is told he is poisoned, lawyer moron gets his career wrecked for daring to call psycho bimbo "Nick" and lesbian moron and boring moron go off in boring morons car into the sunset (Or at least as far as the camera pan to the end of the car park)...The End...**********There you go I have just saved you 88 minutes of your life by reading this instead of watching this desperately boring movie that tries hard to pretend to be a suspense but is more like watching paint dry in a lunatic asylum...
This is my first review and nothing compelled me more to write it than the painfully positive reviews and the unreal rating for this title. To begin with, justice was not done with the caste while Green was a type caste role, the "sexy evil genius" herself looked too old to play the role's demand. Performance department was better but not good enough, a staggering performance in the lead role while just an OK job from Green and Trachtenberg, hence my 2/10 rating only due to acting and a bit of interesting opening.Even though I was already not too optimistic from the title itself my expectations were not very high, still the movie succeeded in disappointing me.Plot was full of unsurprising, not so twisting twists, and there was a non existent element of suspense. Story progress, though interesting between different flash backs, was too predictable and annoyingly senseless. All of a sudden Nikky just doesn't like being called Nikk...Character development was also not far behind the plot weakness, in sinking the movie further. The lead "Sexy Evil Genius" character itself gathers more irritation from the viewer than the genius image it struggles so unsuccessfully to project till the very end. In the end the sympathy and support the plot provides for the "genius" main character from other characters is plain failure for the writers to develop the character required to deliver the title role.In total, it's all down the hill after a couple of good lines in the time before the main character "Nikki" arrives. Unless you really want to sit out the duration you paid for, I suggest leaving the theater and do something good with your time then watching till the end as it would just frustrate you more. And to avoid further frustration to point you melt down and create an IMDb account only to write a real review, please don't read the rating and other positive reviews of this title.
