OK so I got this DVD and hoped it would be a good horror film, yes it was like at the start two hitch hikers hail down a car then this bit was unexpected the hitch hiker man just slams a hammer into the drivers head then proceeds to chop him up but you don't see it in full frame just his head and arm chopping him up. The female just waits for him to finish and they drive off, these two are newly married and are murderers. Next couple is a brother & sister leaving home and they are picked up by the murdering couple, they go into a bar and ask where could they get a room for the night, they're told where to go and meet the owner of the hotel and so next day they go on a hike with the owner so the killing begins and then you find out it's the owner doing the killing a woman. Then this is where I am confused you see the owner has a husband and she is Pregnant and there is a toddler then the man cuts the baby out and feeds it blood from its bottle, the owner kills him and then goes to one of the survivors tied up on a bed and showed her her nipples which looked weird, the survivor escapes and kills the owner. Why was a baby fed blood? I don't get it do they eat flesh like cannibals or what, if anyone can explain the ending I would love to know it. ,

This movie IS what you want out of a horror film. Personally, I love discovering films that could one day be a horror cult classic. This is one of them! There's twists, scares, gore, sex, comedy and a little bit of irony all rolled into one. As someone who has seen more than my fair of BAD horror movies, I can definitely tell you this is NOT one of them. I walked away very satisfied and would even sit through it again with friends. That's the kind of feeling you should want walk away from a movie with. The acting is good, really good. The direction was on point. The death scenes were quick, but in a TCM kind of quick that made them seem a little more realistic. The characters also aren't all one dimensional teens that you root for to get killed off. I just say, give the film a chance. It's not a masterpiece, but it isn't meant to be. It's meant to be fun (think Sleepaway Camp, kind of fun) and if your idea of fun is watching a good horror that can poke fun at itself with you, then you have found your afternoon flick!

2015 was not the best year for horror films. Hollywood gave us so much crap, and they added to the brain numbing with remakes, sequels, prequels and family friendly trash. Leave it to After Dark and the small little films that always seem to come out of left field and deliver something that gets us excited and talking. Bastard is a film that will win over most horror fans almost instantly. Rebekah Kennedy gives us the May for the 2015 age. She really showcases some serious talent. This film is bloody, fun and unpredictable. Films are meant to be fun and manipulate fear in you, this film is something really special that works on every level. This is what horror has been needing for so long. What a great film. Seek it out and enjoy it.

I will make this short and sweet. I usually would go off in a long diatribe about how much I love or hate a movie but here is my review. The story is about 5 strangers coming together in a remote B&B in the mountains and there is a killer aloof. I enjoyed the story. I will now move onto the acting which the movie was cast Superbly for a movie of this status meaning not to well known. The cast did a great job of portraying the dire situation that surrounded them. The soundtrack is what made the movie though to be quite honest it reminded me of The Guest and also You're Next meaning it was very retro. I will move along to the kills and while there weren't many they were done with a nice touch of finesse. I will say though that the one gripe I had as a horror fanatic is that the movie was a tad on the short side being only one hour and twenty minutes long so when the killing finally starts it happens way to quickly but outside of that I loved this movie and I would definitely recommend watching it. I have seen a lot of the After Dark Horrorfest Films since they started up in 2006 and this is most assuredly one of the better films in the collection.
