Best movie of this year hands down!
Great movie! If you want to be entertained and have a few good laughs, see this movie. The music is also very good,
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
Watched the movie recently and absolutely loved it. It's a wonderful fairy tale. Well sketched out lovable characters, some good acting, enjoyable songs. I especially loved fawad Khan!! When he comes on screen it's hard to take ur eyes off him. And that voice!! Wish there was more of him in the film. Sonam was fit for her role. Kiron Khers performance was good too. She brings the funny quotient to the film. The rest of the supporting cast fit into their roles perfectly Watch it if ur looking for light hearted entertainment. It's a perfect fairytale. Off the songs the maa ka phone ones stuck in my head :-). Naina is another lovely number.

When one talks about Khoobsurat - there is an automatic remembrance of the classic Rekha film. What a perfect story and a lovable star cast. If Disney choose this movie to launch into Bollywood, what a pathetic choice to make. Sonam is totally fake in her acting and is extremely hollow. No plot or consistency in the plot - All the actors are uni-dimensional and lack character. Fawad is a chocolate boy but lacks any substance. His fiancé in the movie is adorable but alas as flat as the commercials she does. Gurgling wine, acting boorish and a loose Delhi girl and then suddenly becoming holier than thou after a kiss; people brooding for no reason, Sonam going gaga over a haveli which was OK looking - come on, Bollywood knows how to build the magic - and this is a Disney film for Christ's sake. The only saving grace is our Punjabi lady Kirron but her over Punjabiness killed any humor that could have been actually funny. I think ever since she has done the Punjabi mother role in 'Rang de basanti' she has been type casted to be the loud mouth crass punjabi mother which is getting to be a drag. The everything becomes hunky dory in the end is just a way of the director saying, I've nothing more to offer - please get out of the cinema hall. All in all, for those who have a low threshold of comedy and lack the discerning taste of a well spun story might find this movie entertaining, but I came back with a headache.Sonam - please for Gods sake, you are not a Disney princess worthy actress at all, so stop trying. I love your father, but you suck - go back to being fat.
Its not completely hazardous to watch a formula-ridden flick if you arecomfortable in a cinematic space familiar to you.More than 3 decades back, veteran director Hrishikesh Mukherjee made the slice- of-life family caper with Rekha in the lead. That iconic film examined the inclusion of an independent-thinking girl in a matriarchal family,in alighter vein.Fast Forward to 2014 - Adman Shashank Ghosh replicates the premise in 'Khubsoorat' which marks the collaboration of Anil Kapoor productions with Disney Films. Its a case of old wine served in new bottle.Much like a fairy-tale adventure,Khubsoorat unfolds with the spontaneous and chirpy chatter-box Mili(Sonam Kapoor),a sports physiotherapist by profession with Sehwag,Dhoni in her client list, entering and breaking the strictures of a royal family.Though her job is to clinically treat the wheel-chaired king,Shekhar Rathod(Aamir Raza Hussain),she is an uninvited typhoon, inviting the rage of the disciplinarian matriarch,Nirmala Devi(Ratna Pathak, steps into her mom,Dina Pathak's shoes)but creates ripples in the heart of the starchy scion, Vikram(Fawad Khan).Shashank has an eye for details.A royal setting, laden with decorum, which forms a backdrop for the central defiance is aptly crafted and Tushar Ray's sumptuous visuals soothe the sparks that fly between the protagonists, who are exactly the opposites in their mannerisms.Shashank also gives a sensitive touch to the reason behind the deafening silence inhabiting the dysfunctional family. However, many of the sequences appear contrived due to a sloppy screenplay.A beaten-to-death treatment and predictable narrative stops us from being invested in the characters and their lives.Sneha Khanwalkar's peppy numbers and the interesting voice- overs doing the mind-talks between the aafat Mili and khadus 'Vicku' cheer up the mood.Quite expectedly, the film showcases Sonam's acting chops (again after'Aisha').The actress gives Mili the right degree of effervescence and eccentricity.Known for her fashionista credentials , her costumes are outlandish and yet she is picture-perfect.She is ably supported by a motley of accomplished actors - Its Kirron Kher ,playing Mili's noisy boisterous and outrageous Punjabi Mom, Manju, who keeps us thoroughly entertained. Her bouyant antics construct a perfect foil to the high-on-etiquettes, Ratna Pathak.Pakistani heart-throb Fawad Khan makes Vikram the cynosure of all eyes and is justifiably restrained.Sadly, all of them seldom get an opportunity to rise above the muddled script.Khubsoorat is a shaky ride.It will make you laugh, but an excess of candy floss also exasperates at the same time.Rating : 2.5/5
