Robinson and Frank Porretta (as Rikard Nordraak). Stop the World: I Want to Get Off
Stop the World: I Want to Get Off
The Anthony Newley/Leslie Bricusse London and Broadway musical hit Stop the World, I Want to Get Off is given literal treatment in this filmization. Newley stars as Littlechap, whose allegorical rise to success is countered by the instability of his private life. Like the play, the film is staged impressionistically, with Newley decked out in mime makeup and periodically stopping the action to address the audience, and with all the women in his life -- German, American and "Typically English" -- played by a single actress (Millicent Martin, taking over from the stage version's Anna Quayle). In Wizard of Oz fashion, the play itself is lensed in color, while the brief prologue, showing the actors preparing for their performance, is in black-and-white. The production includes such standards (and perennial audition pieces) as What Kind of Fool Am I? and Gonna Build a Mountain.

The Sound of Music Live!
The Sound of Music Live! is a television special that was originally broadcast by NBC on December 5, 2013. Produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, the special was an adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Broadway musical The Sound of Music, starring country singer Carrie Underwood as Maria von Trapp, performed and televised live from Grumman Studios in Bethpage, New York. Meron felt that if the telecast were successful, the concept could become "another kind of entertainment that can exist on TV." By her request, Underwood's casting as Maria was personally endorsed by Julie Andrews, who starred in the 1965 film.

Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

Having seen Starlight Express, Phantom Of The Opera and Cats all live on stage, it's good to see the stage show more or less as it was back in the day visually (wish they'd do Starlight Express as it was back in the 90's) but that will never happen i guessThis DVD imo is ruined by the lyrical change to the detriment of flow even Memories is only saved by Elaine Page's brilliant goosebump performance in the reprise.I don't see why directors, musicians take perfect scores and decide to change the lyrics or the backing music and put in corny music instead. Don't mess with what worked. The same can be said for Phantom Of The Opera, Starlight Express my 2 all time favourite stageshows with Cats being in 3rd, sure you need to evolve the show to keep interest but the original lyrics or even the Australian versions were masterpieces then they change critical songs and its not on the same level anymore.

This musical of Cats is the most favourite musical show because the first ever time I went to see cats the musical was in the Blackpool Grand Theatre when I was on holiday with my mum and dad. My dad said to me and my mum would you like to go and see cats the musical that was produce and directed by Andrew Lloyd Webber .The reason why I have chosen cats the musical is that it's an excellent musical and I love all the songs and dancing but I don't like Phantom of the Opera musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber it's not a good musical because I don't understand the French language and I also don't like opera songs all the way from this musical it's not the best musical to go and see . The favourite actors/actress of the cast of cats the musical is Victoria she is the excellent ballet dancers and I like it when Rum Tum Tugger jump off the stage to sit next to someone in the audience which I think that was the best idea that ever Andrew Lloyd Webber has done by letting one of the cast to jump off the stage to sit in the audience and he was so funny as well in the audience. I love all the other cast as well but the main person I look up to as a role model is Victoria because when I watch her on stage she has all the confidence to perform in front of an audience so that why it has helped me to build up my confidence to be able to sing and dance in front of an audience at my college performance . My dad got me an autograph from the main cast member which was called Old Deuteronomy who signed the programme book at the interval so that my dad came back to the seat next to me and hand me the programme with the autograph on it . My mum also brought me the cats the musical light up badge which I have still got today in my memory box. The other musical which is also second best is the Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream coat that is done by Andrew Lloyd Webber which also the most interesting musical and its colourful which is more eye catching for other people to see .

I always lack words when I'm going to describe CATS... It's simple and pure movie magic! So mysterious and exciting. It makes me wanna see more and more and never enough. It's night, the Jellicle Moon is shining bright and it's time for the annual Jellicle Ball, where the cats of the Jellicle Tribe gather together to dance and sing. And when the dawn comes, the Jellicle leader will choose the cat who will go to the Heaviside Layer and be reborn and come back to a different Jellicle life. Who will it be?The music and dancing will have you captivated and will make it impossible to look away. You will be amazed by the actors performances as they transform into felines right before your very eyes. There's nothing like CATS and there never will be.

I don't really know how to put this performance into words. It was a brilliant show for such a large performance being put into film. The production team of it just grabbed the best they could get. Elaine Paige is really good at her part which she is possibly best known for and as for John Partridge that sexy beast! He is just utterly fantastic as the Rum Tum Tugger - just like he was on stage when I saw him. This may seem at first a little slow but it gets way better after the prologue! It is just truly amazing and I think everyone should see it as now the musical has stopped running on stage now. This is possibly one of very few musicals that I cannot get tired of because it is just such an interesting and blockbusting show which deserves more credit than it gets sometimes!
