Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

I started the movie rather confident, since it included Patrick Stewart. And while it wasn't a complete disappointment, I can say without a doubt that it's the worst movie featuring him. But let's get things from the start. The main character is a rebellious teenager, who (regardless of being bullied) picks up verbal fights with everyone he meets. His father, his grandfather... That kid is just annoying. He's clumsy and loses the car keys at the only place where he can't get them out from and his forgetfulness prevents him from deactivating the security system and saving his father. So what to do? Blame the bank and everyone in it, especially the bank director.Fortunatelly he meets some of his relatives at a retirement home, where his mother wants to leave her son while having fun with the bank director (shortly after her husband died). The elderly people there are weird enough and sometimes lewd. He convinces them to rob the bank to avenge his fathers death and also solve their individual money problems. The whole story is nothing special, nor is the acting. Despite some efforts the characters remain surprisingly shallow. And while it is true that there were some entertaining moments here and there, in the end all you have is a barely average movie with quite a few weak spots. So by all means, I can't share the enthusiasm of the others about "Hunting Elephants", nor would I recommend this title for watching. Other movies are more worth the time.4/10

I enjoyed this and we sniggered away at all the vulgarity and many jokes. No ghastly PC humour here and a refreshing take on ADHT. What I found interesting was the depth of tragedy, characterisation and realistic exchanges along with what was essentially slapstick. I can recommend this as pretty good evenings entertainment. Sasson Gabai and Moni Moshonov are wonderful as two old 'terrorists' underplayed their roles to great comic effect. A great performance from Gil Blank as the grandson. A nice surprise is Patrick Stewart playing the uncle an awful English ham which he appears to relish. 'Dying is easy, it's comedy that's difficult' I'm giving it an 8 as it deserves it.

An Entertaining motion picture to the extent that I've managed to forgot when was the last time I had so many laughs watching an Israeli movie. This is a truly Israeli-well-made-quality movie featuring the best actors as could ever be casted to such a movie ! When you think of Moni Mushonov and how funny he can be than you don't even begin to apprehand how funny he is in this amazing movie. Moni has always been (Since I can remember myself as a young kid) the character to fall in love with and laugh from the second you lay your eyes on him. Gabai, Evgy & "Jean Luc-Pikard" - who would imagine such a cast for an Israli Flic. They are wonderful together and I Loved it, Go and watch and laugh till your eyes pop out :)

This isn't the first movie about old men who rob a bank, nor the second. But Reshef Levi comes by the theme honestly; his own father was a bank robber for the Jewish underground before Israel regained its independence in 1948. Like his previous movie Lost Islands, which was a great success, this one involves a largish web of characters and relationships, all interesting. The problem with Hunting Elephants is that in order to put the puzzle together, it has to rely too much on verbal explanations of past events. Sometimes it even jumps into the future to show people talking in retrospect about what happens in the main plot. There is also something of a credibility problem with the way the brains of the elderly characters are sharp or muddled depending on what suits the moment. But the performances are good-- it's rather an all-star cast, including many of the bit players-- and there were many lines that had the audience laughing appreciatively. I'm not sure anyone mentions it, but the film takes place in Jerusalem.
